Spaces

Kai Hana Art Spaces are rooted in Japanese traditions and shaped by island craftsmanship.

Our spaces are thoughtfully designed for peaceful human connection. Each structure blends the tactile beauty of natural materials with modern usability—offering environments that invite reflection, story, and shared experience. Whether used for tea service, art viewing, teaching, meditation, or healing, these spaces are built to hold presence, purpose, and tranquility.

Tranquility Space
Art Tea House

Kai Hana Art Tea Houses, or chashitsu (茶室), feature traditional hardwood joinery techniques employed for centuries, custom pitched roofing offering refined aesthetic presence, and hand-crafted shōji screens. These are typically exempt from building permit requirements on Oʻahu and are normally assembled in one day at your location—requiring no heavy machinery or permanent foundation.

Meditation Pavilion As a minimalist shelter for stillness, the open frame and shōji walls offer quiet enclosure while remaining attuned to light, breeze, and sound. Ideal for yoga, seated meditation, or one-on-one conversation.

Storytelling Space – Inspired by traditional gathering spaces for monogatari (物語, storytelling) and moʻolelo (Hawaiian oral tradition), this handcrafted wooden amphitheater invites gatherings for conversation, performance, or shared memory—framed in wood, touched by filtered light, and grounded by the nostalgic texture and scent of tatami.
